Eligibility & Admissions Criteria

The primary criteria for admission relate to the appropriateness of the home to cater for the individual’s rehabilitation needs within the framework of a psychiatric rehabilitation community. The home aim’s to meet local needs in the first instance but, due to the specialist nature of Trinity House, referrals will also be accepted for service users who do not live in the local area. Trinity House also complies with its Equal Opportunities Procedure when considering referrals.

For persons to be suitable for placement at Trinity House, they must satisfy the following criteria:

The service user should be between 18-65 years of age
The service user will have mental health needs. Have a history of mental health problems and may be subjected to community sections as a discharged person on Sections of the Mental Health Act 1983 i.e. 37/41, Section 17A – CTO.
Have the support of their multidisciplinary team for discharge/leave from hospital.
Must be willing to share communal facilities. The service user is willing to reside in a communal setting for the duration of his (or her) rehabilitation. The service user should be open to residing in a mixed gender, multi-cultural environment.
The service user wishes to engage in the process of rehabilitation. Have some insight into their mental health needs and be mentally stable enough to cope with taking responsibility for their own lives and personal living environment
Recognise the importance of their medication regime to their continued wellbeing.
Be motivated towards taking part in work/leisure/educational programs as part of their rehabilitation and; have financial support from their referring agency to take part in such activities deemed to be of therapeutic benefit.
Be willing to take responsibility for the upkeep of their room with assistance where necessary.
Demonstrate the ability to interact appropriately with other service users and staff.
Indicate throughout the period of assessment that they are free of positive psychotic symptoms (delusions, hallucinations) or that the intensity of such symptoms if present does not impair the person’s ability to function socially.
Understand and accept the terms and conditions of residency at Trinity House
Agree to refrain from illicit drugs and to abide by the drug and alcohol policy of Trinity House, for the duration of their residency. For service users with a history of drug / alcohol, random screening must be agreed to ensure compliance with the homes drug/alcohol policy. The facility for providing such screening being either provided by the referrer, or provided at an extra charge by Trinity House.
Must be willing to abide by Equal Opportunities Policies.

Trinity House cannot provide an appropriate service if –

Service users are in an acute phase of mental ill health
Service users are exhibiting persistent aggressive or threatening behaviour
Service users have a repetitive history of fire setting
Service users have a severe organic brain syndrome.
Registered sex offenders with a history of offences against children are not normally accepted at Trinity House due to this home’s close proximity to schools.
No emergency admissions will be accepted by the home.
